Andorra Customs
Customs in Andorra (Duana Andorrana) has three main missions: fiscal, protection, and economic mission. Andorran Customs action is exercised throughout the national territory.
- Fiscal mission regains control and collection of goods duties and taxes. Customs officers are responsible for the collection of customs duties such as the consumption tax, the common foreign tariff, and anti-dumping duties, as well as the collection of internal taxation taxes such as indirect general tax IGI (VAT in Andorra) and excise duties.
- The economic mission consists of guaranteeing the respect of the international commitments (ATA, Vienna Convention, etc.), in applying the dispositions of commercial policy, controlling, facilitating, and promoting the international exchanges.
- Customs promote the development and diversification of the national economy by adapting its procedures and giving fluidity to trade while respecting its international commitments.
Given its privileged position, Customs collaborate with other Ministries and departments of the Administration in the fields of health, culture, intellectual property, industrial security, etc. In this sense, the third of the Customs missions is a mission of protection.
Customs contribute to consumer protection (counterfeiting, piracy, technical regulations), public health (control of drugs, narcotics) and public safety (control of weapons), heritage protection (control artworks) fight against fraud and international trafficking.
